Sunday saw the band take to the contesting stage for the first time this year at the NEMBBA Contest in Derbyshire and also the band’s contesting debut in the First Section following promotion after their victory at the Yorkshire Areas last year.
Playing Symphony of Marches by Gilbert Vinter and off of a number one draw, the band came away with 4th place against a strong field of bands.
This sets the band up nicely for next weekend’s Yorkshire Areas at Huddersfield Town Hall where they hope to repeat the success they had last year.
The Band would like to pass on their thanks to Louise Crook and Andrew Thompson from Wakefield Metropolitan Band who kindly helped out on Euphonium and Tenor Horn.
